I decided to leave UK for a year.

Working Holiday was something I always wanted to do. I was choosing between Taiwan and Korea. So I have visited both places this summer. Then I found that I like the weather in Korea better.

So that's is. Now I just needed to apply for the H-1 visa. I have started researching on the Internet.

But you know, British people like going on holiday but they don't like going away too far; and they don't like leaving home too long. If they study abroad, they would choose an European country. And Korea is still strange to many British. So, I did not find anything useful. I was having problems on some required documents.

They actually did not ask for many documents, at lease not the insurance; once I sort it out, it was proper easy haha~~

1) Passport

2) Application form with a photo.

3) Reture Flight itinerary issued by an agent or airline.

4) 3 months bank statement with a sum of £1500.

5) Activity plan.

6) Criminal background check.

7) Medical check.

8) £155 visa fee.

Compare to other countries, they ask less paper from the British but more fee.

You should allow at lease one month to get all documents ready. Before you apply, you should check if they still have places (1000 each year.). But I am sure they have prenty of places.

Few things to talk about-

3) Return Flight itinerary- this was very confusing to me. They say they do not suggest you to purchase the ticket until the visa is approved.

Actually, this does not have to be a real ticket. What they ask for is your schedule. I went on few websites of the airline. I found that they would let you hold a seat for up to 72hrs, they would charge a fee if you don't pay within 72hrs.

British Air charged me £10 for that, after I paid I received the flight itinerary by email. Of course I did not pay at the end. So, done!!

5) Activity plan- this is simple, you just fill in the form they made. In other countries, applicant would have to write on an blank A4 paper. A plan is a plan, you don't have to follow it.

6) Criminal background check- this takes time. I went to my local police station and told the police what I want, he gave me the application form of Subject Access. This costs £10 and about 40days wait. After you received it, you will need to send it to the FCO to get the apostille stamp. This costs £30 and £5 postage if you did not include a pre-paid envelope. This piece of paper took me 6 weeks waiting time...

7) Medical check- I went to see a nurse, she asked few questions and checked few things. It took about 15 minutes. Then I went back to collect the letter. They charged me £20 for it.

It took me around 2 months to get everything prepared, the whole thing costs me £200+...

Once you receive the visa, you should enter the conutry within 1 year from the date you apply.
